The Ugly Podcast is hosted by myself, Lauren Alexander, wherein I chat with other creatives and industry professionals about the creative process. The podcast is “ugly” because I didn’t know how to produce a podcast when I first started this thing (and I still largely don’t), but I do it anyway in the spirit of ugly art–that is, making something bad in order to subvert perfectionism. There are dogs barking sometimes and I say “like” a lot or go off topic, but that’s why this thing is so much fun to make.
If you ever feel alone in your creative struggle or like your art needs to look a certain way for it to have worth, this podcast is for you. My guests and I are here to talk about things we’ve learned, things we’re still figuring out, and things we’re leaving behind.
I formerly cohosted this show with Emerson Lee of Happy Memories Elder Support, who is still a beloved occasional guest when they aren’t busy rocking their business and writing their book. Subscribe and listen below!
Lauren talks with creatives and industry professionals about the creative process and how to live more openly and fully through the willingness to make "ugly" things—including this podcast! Lauren aims to let creatives know they're not alone and they deserve to explore all facets and forms of creativity, not just what is accepted or tolerated as "good art."
