Services

I offer copyediting, substantive editing, and manuscript evaluations for contemporary literature, coming of age stories, and ex-vangelical literature (both fiction and nonfiction). I also offer coaching for people who feel creatively stuck and are looking for encouragement and tools to get their work out into the world—perfectionists, I’m looking at you! Below are brief descriptions of what each service entails. If you have any questions about these services or aren’t sure what you need, schedule a consultation.

Not sure which service you need?

CREATIVITY COACHING
Strengthening your creative muscles

We often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to only create perfect things or to only create when we’re feeling inspired. But that only leads to us not creating at all or feeling stuck. As your creativity coach, I’ll show you a more playful and imperfect way to approach writing to help you finish your book.

MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION
Where are you and where do you need to go?

You have a manuscript draft, and you’re not sure what it needs to get it to the next level. This service is similar to a beta read where I’ll let you know what you’re doing well and what could use work as well as a suggestion for the type of editing that your work would most benefit from moving forward.

SUBSTANTIVE EDITING
Tightening up your story

You have the first or second draft of your manuscript complete, but some pieces aren’t quite lining up. Substantive editing can help you identify and resolve problems of clarity and flow in your story. I will work with you to call out and fix potential issues with content, accuracy, consistency, and organization in order to sharpen your message.

COPYEDITING
Getting into the nitty-gritty

You’ve completed your manuscript and need someone to read through your work for spelling, grammar, syntax, and style choices. I will study your words in painstaking detail to discover errors or inconsistencies in stylistic preference that may distract readers from your message. Prices for copyediting will vary based on the level of editing required for the project.
